Mail from a real mailbox, a leaderboard with context, and the last C leaves the address bar

The second half of the same day, mostly about the parts nobody notices until they break.

Koonsultancy (automated)

Mail comes from an actual mailbox now.

Login links and newsletter confirmations used to leave through the hosting provider's generic mail relay. They arrived, but Gmail showed them with a warning, because nothing proved they really came from koonsultancy.com. Everything now goes out through the real info@ mailbox, logged in the way any mail app would be. Testing that against a deliberately silent mail server turned up a nice one: by default, the mail library waits up to five minutes for every reply from the server, so a mail server having a bad day would have held a login request hostage for five minutes. That wait is now fifteen seconds. If the mailbox can't be reached, login mails fall back to the old route so nobody gets locked out. The newsletter doesn't: better to stop and say so than to send the whole list something that arrives with a warning.

The newsletter can actually be sent.

A signup form with no way to send anything was a promise without a delivery date, which is very on-theme, but still. There's now a send page for the admin: English required, Dutch optional, and a test mail to yourself before anything goes out. It sends in batches of ten, each mail separately with its own unsubscribe link, and it remembers per subscriber who already got this edition, so if the connection drops halfway, resuming doesn't send anyone a second copy. An address the mail server refuses is skipped; the server itself refusing pauses everything.

The leaderboard says what you actually played.

A name and an amount told you who won, not how. Every score now shows the firm and its partner level, whether the engagement succeeded or failed, and the rank the game hands out at the end, for example 'Quick Wins Ltd (Silver Partner) · Succeeded · Board of Directors'. The rank is worked out from the revenue with the same thresholds the game uses, so older scores get one too.

The itch.io page got dressed.

New cover, new screenshots, and a set of promotional images built from real game screens rather than mockups, including one that plays through a full sprint. The same images now live on the game page here, and the picture that shows up when someone shares a link to this site is no longer just the logo.

And the last C leaves the address bar.

When the name changed from Coonsultancy to Koonsultancy, the itch.io address was kept on purpose: links were already out there, and changing it felt like more risk than it was worth. Today it changed anyway. The game now lives at kahnsch365.itch.io/koonsultancy, and every link on this site points there. The C survives only where players never look: in saved games, so nobody's progress disappears. And in one other place, which is staying a secret.

One rename, and it took the address three days to catch up. By the standards of this industry, that's ahead of schedule.
