Coonsultancy becomes Koonsultancy
A brand revising its own name is already a bit of a joke from its own game.
Koonsultancy (automatisch)
The pun that went too far.
'Coonsultancy' was always meant as a pun: a C, followed by a double O that could just as easily be a sideways infinity symbol. Infinite consultancy. What landed fine with a local, Dutch audience turned out to have a different problem internationally — 'coon' is a pejorative term outside the Netherlands, and with an English-language .com version aimed at an international audience, that outweighed the pun.
Honestly, the C→K swap doesn't fully solve the underlying issue: 'Koonsultancy' sounds identical to 'Coonsultancy' out loud. The pun — and therefore the sound — stayed deliberately intact, only the spelling didn't. A deliberate, limited choice, not a misunderstanding.
Everything that came with it.
The game got a new, raster-based logo — a K in a ring with an infinity swirl, shown via a CSS mask so it always follows the theme colour. The site was rebuilt on every page: brand, og-tags, structured data, and eventually the domain name itself — coonsultancy.nl and coonsultancy.com made way for koonsultancy.com as the one truly active domain.
Along the way, a small button ornament in the game swapped back and forth a few times between a standalone K and the old infinity symbol, before eventually landing back on the infinity symbol in the 'Navy & Gold (original)' theme. Sometimes 'testing until it feels as good as it already did' is simply the answer.
Two places where the C deliberately stayed.
Not everything got swept along. The game's itch.io URL literally stayed .../coonsultancy — changing a project slug is a separate, breaking action on an external, live page with existing links and bookmarks, and wasn't part of 'rebuilding the brand name'.
And within the game itself, the very first, hand-drawn logo got its own theme: 'Navy & Gold (original)'. That logo is loose brush art, not a font — the old spelling 'Coonsultancy' is still literally in it, as a deliberate nostalgic nod to version one, not a spot that got missed.
