Counting, not tracking
We only count how often a page gets viewed. No cookies, and no way of knowing who you are or which device you're on. See 03.

PRIVACY
Short version: this site doesn't track you or share anything with third parties. It only counts, anonymously, how often a page gets viewed. Details below.
01 / WHAT DOESN'T HAPPEN
The one cookie there is doesn't need consent.
We only count how often a page gets viewed. No cookies, and no way of knowing who you are or which device you're on. See 03.
Fonts are hosted locally on this server, so your IP address isn't shared with Google just to render some text.
Language and dark/light are remembered via localStorage, not a cookie. Signing in to the forum does set one cookie — purely to keep you signed in, used for nothing else. See 05 below.
02 / IF YOU EMAIL US
This site has no contact form — just a plain mailto link. If you email, that message (with your email address and its contents) lands in a personal inbox, solely to be able to reply.
That data is never resold, never used for marketing, and never kept longer than the conversation requires.
03 / HOSTING
This site runs on webspace hosted by Strato, in the Netherlands/EU. Standard server logs (as with virtually any web host) may briefly contain technical data such as IP address and request time — this is not actively analysed or used by Koonsultancy.
To know whether anyone reads this site at all, each page view adds one to a counter: per day, the page, its language, and if you came from another website only that site's domain name (linkedin.com, say). A click on one of the play buttons is counted the same way. Nothing else: no IP address, no cookie, no details about your browser or device, and nothing that links two page views to each other or to you. The counts only exist as totals, in the same database at Strato. The game itself counts three moments the same way: a run starts, the first engagement is won, and a run ends (won or lost), with the game version and whether it was on this site, on itch.io or in the desktop version. That shows where players drop off. Those too are only daily totals.
Because nothing is stored on your device for this and nothing about you is kept, it doesn't need your consent. If your browser sends a Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signal, nothing gets counted at all.
04 / THE LEADERBOARD
From the game, after a run, you can put your final score on the leaderboard — always through a separate button, never automatically. You can do that with an account (see 05) or as a guest. If you play on itch.io or from a downloaded file, the game opens this site with your score in the link; it's only stored once you click "Put it on the leaderboard" here. We then store your revenue and a few game details (agency, partner tier, round, scope, your run's seed, and whether it was the daily challenge), linked to your account or to the name you enter as a guest, in a database on the same Strato webspace as this site.
The board only shows your username, never your email address. If you change your username, the board shows the new one straight away. If your account is deleted, your scores go with it. As a guest you don't give an email address: we only store the name you choose yourself, with your score, and the board shows (guest) after it. So don't pick a name people know you by if you'd rather they didn't.
To stop anyone from stuffing the board with fake scores in one go, the server counts how many scores arrive per sender (and, with an account, per account). Your IP address itself isn't stored for this — only an irreversible derivative of it (a hash, with a key that changes every day), and even that is deleted after 24 hours. That falls under legitimate interest (preventing abuse), not something you need to consent to. The exact same applies to newsletter signups (see 06).
If you play the game here at koonsultancy.com/speel/, your browser keeps your progress and a copy of the game on your own device (in localStorage and an offline cache), so it also works without internet and can be installed. That stays on your device: nothing is sent to us, unless you share your score yourself. If you open the leaderboard in the game (here or on itch.io), the game fetches the list from koonsultancy.com at that moment; nothing about you is stored when it does.
Want a score removed? Send an email (see below) with your username, or the name you used as a guest, and which score it is.
05 / THE FORUM
Posting in the forum (a thread or a reply) requires an account; putting a score on the leaderboard works with an account or as a guest (see 04). Signing in works without a password: you enter your email address, get sent a one-time link, and that link signs you in. For this we store your email address and the username you choose yourself.
Once you're signed in, the site sets one cookie in your browser — purely to remember that you're signed in, nothing else. That cookie can't be read by JavaScript, isn't shared with anyone, and is exactly the kind of "strictly necessary for the requested service" cookie GDPR doesn't require separate consent for — which is why there's no cookie banner for it. It expires on its own after 60 days, or immediately when you sign out.
Your chosen username and everything you post are publicly visible — feel free to skip your last name. Your email address is never shown, not to other visitors and not in the page's source code; it's only used to send the login link.
Want your account or something you posted removed? Send an email (see below) with your username.
06 / THE NEWSLETTER
On the homepage and the game page you can sign up for the newsletter. You'll first get an email with a confirmation link; only once you click it are you on the list. If you don't click, your address is deleted automatically within a week.
We store your email address, the language you signed up in, which page you signed up from, and when you signed up and confirmed — the latter so we can show you gave consent yourself. Your address is only used to send an occasional update about Koonsultancy: not shared, not sold, and never shown on the site.
You can unsubscribe at any time, with the link at the bottom of every newsletter or by sending an email (see below). Unsubscribing deletes your address entirely — nothing about you is kept.
07 / CRASH REPORTS
If the game stops unexpectedly (on an iPhone the system can close it, with a white flash), it shows you what happened just before at the next start: the game version, the screen and the steps leading up to it, a few technical counts, and your browser's identification string (the user-agent, which tells what kind of device and browser version it is). That stays on your device. Only if you tap "Send to the developer" yourself does exactly that text go to koonsultancy.com, so the bug can be found.
No name, email address, account or score is sent, and we link a report to nothing and no one. To guard against a flood of reports, the server counts per sender, using the same irreversible hash of your IP address as the leaderboard (see 04), deleted after 24 hours. The reports themselves sit in the same database at Strato, only the admin can read them, and they are deleted automatically after 180 days. This falls under legitimate interest: keeping the game working.
08 / LICENCES (KSCAN AND KFSM)
If your company uses KScan or KFSM with a licence that renews automatically, your company's server asks koonsultancy.com twice a day whether a new licence key is ready. Only the licence code (which is in the key itself) and the KScan or KFSM version are sent. No scans, stock levels, service calls, customers, employee names or other business data are sent.
Per licence we store the key itself (with the company name, the SAP company, the number of devices or technicians and the end date, as in the contract), when the server last checked, which key it received and with which version. No IP address. That way we can see whether the renewal arrives. This is part of performing the contract; only the admin can see it. Your company's administrator can switch automatic renewal off (KScan: Admin → Licence; KFSM: Admin portal → Licence); you then enter a new key yourself.
